Bortistu cultural trail

Bortistu cultural trail

The cultural trail starting at the bottom of the Storlidalen valley offers one or more walking routes in beautiful cultural landscape. It passes by old cultural pastures and gives a nice insight into the local history of this beautiful valley in Trollheimen.

With ample car parking and a café, the farm Bortistu Gjestegard makes a nice starting point for your walk. If you need more information about the cultural trail and route selection, the friendly hosts will gladly assist you.

The cultural trail was upgraded and marked in 1990. Several trails and animal tracks were marked together for a nice and varied round trip. You can walk the entire route or selected parts. A barbecue area has been developed along the trail, so you can combine your walk with a nice meal in the open air.

After a while, the cultural trail gives you an insight into the everyday life in the Storlidalen valley in days gone by. You can see how agriculture and various industries were carried out, and how things went with Ola on the farm Jelhaugen. One cultural monument along the trail is dead ice pits from the last Ice Age, another is an old soapstone quarry. This is a nature-based experience with several vantage points of the Innerdalen and Gjevilvassdalen valleys and the Tovatna lakes.
